iPhone photos on hotel TVs

I was staying at a hotel last week and wanted to show some trip photos from my iPhone on the room TV. The problem is always the same — the remote barely works, half the buttons are locked, and I really don’t want to sign in to anything on a public TV. Has anyone found a quick way to cast photos without touching the remote at all? Something that works even when the hotel TV feels like it’s from a different decade.

I’ve run into that exact situation a bunch of times, especially in business hotels where the TV menus are locked down. What saved me was using an app that connects over the hotel Wi-Fi without needing to log in on the TV or use its remote. This link https://apps.apple.com/us/app/docast-screen-mirroring-to-tv/id6446948344 points to the one I’ve been using. It mirrors the iPhone screen directly, so you can open the Photos app and display everything instantly. As long as the phone and TV share the same network, it just works without messing with hotel settings.

Some hotels put each room on a separate network, and that can make normal casting impossible. I usually check the Wi-Fi info on the TV first — if it’s on the same SSID as the phone, it’s almost always workable. When it isn’t, I sometimes create a temporary hotspot from a travel router so all my devices stay on one network. It keeps things simple and avoids dealing with hotel remotes altogether
