তারাপদ রায় (১৭ নভেম্বর, ১৯৩৬ – ২৫ আগস্ট, ২০০৭) বাংলার প্রসিদ্ধ কবি, ছোটগল্পকার ও প্রাবন্ধিক। বাংলা সাহিত্যে হালকা হাস্যরসের সাথে পরিমিত তিক্তরস মিশ্রণের পারঙ্গম স্রষ্টা তিনি। তারাপদ রায়ের জন্ম ১৯৩৬ সালের নভেম্বর মাসের ১৭ তারিখে অবিভক্ত বাংলায় বর্তমান বাংলাদেশের টাঙ্গাইলে। সেখানকার বিন্দুবাসিনী হাই ইংলিশ স্কুল হতে ম্যাট্রিক পাশ করেন। ১৯৫১ খ্রিষ্টাব্দে কলকাতায় কলেজে পড়তে আসেন। মৌলানা আজাদ কলেজ থেকে পড়াশোনা করে কলকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় হতে অর্থনীতিতে স্নাতক উপাধি লাভ করেন। ওই সময়েই কলকাতার কৃত্তিবাস পত্রিকাগোষ্ঠীর ঘনিষ্ঠ কবি হিসাবে পরিচিতির সাথে অজস্র গদ্য রচনাও লিখেছেন।
