A guide to creating an additional account in your Metamask Sign In

You might have performed a number of crypto trade activities with the wallet and have a strong knowledge base of it but often most of the users are at a sea relating to whether they can add an additional account to their Metamask Sign In or not.

MetaMask Sign In allows you to add more than one account within the same wallet. This is one of the most attractive features that MetaMask is offering to its users. The users are provided with a Secret Recovery Phrase and an automatically created account also known as the default account. 

What is the Secret Recovery Phrase?

SRP or Secret Recovery Phrase is one of the most important elements associated with the Metamask Sign In. The whole wallet is controlled with this phrase. The SRP generates automatically at the time of creating a wallet. This phrase makes the holder “Custodian of the wallet” and it lies with the holder only not even with the company itself.

It is further advised not to share this phrase with anyone to avoid unauthorized access to your wallet. The phrase comprises 12 words and in the case of hardware wallets, it can be 24 words also. 

How to add an additional account after restoring the wallet?

If the user wishes to have more than one account then he can add an account using the Secret Recovery Phrase (SRP). Below, we are listing the steps that will help you in adding an additional account apart from the default one.

It should be remembered that to create an additional account one should have a Seed Phrase with him because each of the accounts will be associated with the SRP. The steps to create an additional account via the mobile app are as follows:

1. Complete the MetaMask Login process to enter the account
2. Either, click on the account icon on your wallet home page
3. Or, click on the hamburger icon at the left side of the page and then tap on the account
4. Now, an account selector will open up, tap on “Create New Account”
5. You’ll be redirected to the second account home page
6. Change the account name by making a long press on the account

Through computer/laptop

If you prefer to work via computer/laptop then also you can create an account easily within a few minutes. The steps to create an account through the wallet extension are as follows:

1. Step ahead for the MetaMask login
2. Click on the circular account image at the right side of the wallet
3. Tap on “Create Account”
4. In the relevant field, create the name of the account
5. Hit on “Create”

NOTE: Do remember, once you created an account you will not be able to delete the same.
