একবার দুই পথিক পথ চলতে চলতে ক্লান্ত হয়ে পড়ল। তাদের ক্ষুধাও লেগেছিল ভীষণ। খাওয়া-দাওয়া করার জন্য দু’জন মিলে একটা সুবিধাজনক জায়গায় গিয়ে বসে পড়লো। এরপর পুটলি থেকে বের করে নিলো যার যার খাবার। একজনের রয়েছে পাঁচটি রুটি। অন্য জনের তিনটি।
তারা যখন খাবার খাওয়ার জন্য তৈরি হলো তখন সেখানে এসে হাজির হলো এক মুসাফির। তার বেশভূষা একদম সাদাসিধে। সে বললো,ভাই আমি অভুক্ত। খুব ক্ষুধা লেগেছে। আমার কাছে কোনো খাবার নেই। তোমরা আমাকে কিছু খাবার দাও।
