কৃত্রিম বুদ্ধিমত্তার জন্য নিজেদের প্রথম চিপ তৈরিতে কাজ করছে মেটা। এক ব্লগ পোস্টে এ ঘোষণা দিয়েছে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি। মেটার এই নতুন চিপের নাম ‘মেটা ট্রেনিং অ্যান্ড ইনফারেন্স অ্যাকসেলেটর’, সংক্ষেপে একে বলা হচ্ছে এমটিআই চিপ।

কৃত্রিম বুদ্ধিমত্তা প্রযুক্তিতে নিজেদের পরিসর বৃদ্ধিতেও কাজ শুরু করেছে ফেসবুক ও ইনস্টাগ্রামের এ মূল প্রতিষ্ঠান। সম্প্রতি প্রতিষ্ঠানটির প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা (সিইও) মার্ক জাকারবার্গ বলেছেন, কোটি মানুষের কাছে এআই পৌঁছে দেওয়ার জন্য মেটা সম্ভাবনা দেখেছে; যা হবে প্রয়োজনীয় ও অর্থবহ।

এমটিআই চিপ ঘোষণার দিনই এআই নিয়ে আরও কিছু অবকাঠামো পরিকল্পনার কথা জানায় মেটা। ধারণা করা হচ্ছে, মেটার এ পদক্ষেপ এআই নিয়ে কাজ করা অন্য প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বীদের সঙ্গে প্রতিযোগিতা এবং উল্লেখযোগ্য পরিমাণ বিনিয়োগের আভাস দিচ্ছে।

মেটার ভাইস প্রেসিডেন্ট ও হেড অব ইনফ্রাসট্রাকচার সান্তোষ জনার্ধন বলেছেন, মেটার এই চিপ সিপিইউর তুলনায় বেশি তথ্য প্রক্রিয়া করার কার্যক্ষমতা প্রদর্শন করে। এ ছাড়া মেটার অভ্যন্তরীণ কাজের জন্য এ চিপটিকে চাহিদামতো কাস্টমাইজড করে তৈরি করা হয়েছে।

জনার্ধন বিশ্বাস করেন, মেটার এই চিপ এবং জিপিইউয়ের সমন্বয় আরও ভালো পারফরম্যান্স দেবে, ল্যাটেন্সি কমাবে ও প্রত্যেক কাজ আরও কর্মক্ষম হবে। তবে মেটার এ চিপ এখনই বাজারে আসছে না। ধারণা করা হচ্ছে, চিপটি বাজারে আনতে অন্তত ২০২৫ সাল পর্যন্ত সময়ের প্রয়োজন হতে পারে।

এ ছাড়া এমটিআই চিপের পাশাপাশি ভিডিও ট্রান্সকোডিংয়ে জন্য ‘এমভিএসপি’ বা ‘মেটা স্ক্যালেবল ভিডিও প্রসেসর’ নামে একটি ইন্টিগ্রেটেড সার্কিট চিপ নিয়েও কাজ করছে মেটা।
